Job Summary

    WASH technical advisor is responsible for the successful implementation and monitoring of program projects. WASH technical advisor would also be responsible for overseeing the planning and delivery of the program and its related MEAL activities, manage the program team, ensure proper integration and achievement of the projects in line with organization strategies, and oversee the planning and achievement of business development activities related to the program.

    Moreover, The position holder is responsible for representing WATAN in coordination and relevant program meetings with donors and coordination bodies.

Position Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred
    • Experience working in the Syrian context and/or a strong demonstrated understanding of the country context and the region
    • Leadership experience managing WASH Projects or a similar role in the relevant humanitarian and development sectors.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in WASH Projects Management 
    • Travel availability: frequent visits to the field 
    • PMP or PgMP certified
    • Good remote management skills
    • knowledge of International Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law, and Refugee Law
    • High communication skills and presentation

Responsibility

    WASH Technical Advisor in an NGO, your primary responsibility is to provide technical guidance and support to the organization's WASH programs. This involves:

    Developing and implementing WASH strategies: You will be responsible for developing and implementing WASH strategies that align with the organization's mission and goals. This may involve conducting needs assessments, identifying priority areas, and developing plans to address these needs.

    Providing technical guidance: You will be responsible for providing technical guidance to program staff and partners, ensuring that WASH interventions are designed and implemented in accordance with best practices and standards.

    Monitoring and evaluation: You will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the organization's WASH programs to ensure that they are achieving their intended impact. This may involve developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, conducting regular assessments, and analyzing data to identify areas for improvement.

    Capacity building: You will be responsible for building the capacity of program staff and partners to design and implement effective WASH interventions. This may involve conducting trainings, workshops, and providing technical assistance.

    Networking and partnerships: You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, and other NGOs. This may involve representing the organization in meetings and conferences, and identifying opportunities for collaboration and partnership.

    Overall, as a WASH Technical Advisor, your goal is to ensure that the organization's WASH programs are effective, efficient, and sustainable, and that they are making a positive impact on the communities they serve.
